We’ll Do without Russia: Ukrainian Food Conquered 85 Countries in Just One Year
Ukrainian food producers are successfully opening new markets. In just one year, Ukraine has entered 85 new country markets, according to the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. Asian and African countries are becoming the largest consumers of Ukrainian agricultural products
As UNIAN analyses food export trends, the conclusion is that in the four years since the war with Russia began, Ukraine has done a good job of diversifying the geographical structure of its agricultural exports, "Landlord" informs.
Ukrainian food producers have moved away from the market of the aggressor country and are successfully promoting their products in other countries, building business ties.
UNIAN cites an agricultural holding as an example "Avangard", which is the largest domestic egg producer. According to the company's owner, Oleg Bakhmatyuk, foreign trade was reoriented to the markets of Iraq, the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Hong Kong, and in the future, Singapore and about 20 African countries instead of Russia.
To promote and market products internationally, however, requires marketing costs that not all domestic producers can afford.
The outlook for 2019 is encouraging: exports of agricultural products will grow, not only in terms of raw materials but also in terms of value-added products.
Experts believe that butter, soybean oil, and honey have the greatest prospects in this regard.
The Export Credit Agency is to help agricultural producers promote their products to foreign markets and support them financially. According to forecasts, it will be fully operational this year.
As previously reported by Landlord, agricultural exports from Ukraine increased by 24% in the first two months of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018. The top 3 export items are corn, sunflower oil, wheat and its mixture with rye.
