Bankruptcy of "Avangard" will hit the world market of eggs
This is in his article for Poultry World writes Vladislav Vorotnikov, reports Depo.ua.
The 2014 economic crisis caused by Russian aggression led to a sharp decrease in egg production in Ukraine. For example, in 2015, "Avangard", as noted in the article, reduced production by 46% compared to 2014 - to 3.434 billions of eggs.
However, the devaluation of the hryvnia during the economic crisis has led to an increase in export revenue. In addition, the export of Ukrainian eggs abroad has also grown. The reason according to the author, referring to the data of the International Independent Institute of Agricultural Policy, was following. With the high egg consumption in Ukraine (about 310 units per person per year), companies could not increase the sales on local market.
In addition, the opening of new markets contributed to the growth of exports. "Ukraine is actively increasing egg exports. Over the past 2 years, our companies have more than doubled their exports. In 2016, exports amounted to 650 million eggs, while in 2018 this figure reached 1.79 billion eggs. Official statistics show that industrial egg production in Ukraine increased by 6.4% in 2018 compared with the previous year. In 2018, our companies were given the green light to export to Montenegro, Serbia, Hong Kong and Singapore. As for egg products, we were given permission for export to the same countries, and to the Morocco, and Philippines "- states the head of Ukrainian association of livestock Iryna Palamar.
According to her, in 2017 Ukraine exported 107.5 thousand tons of eggs, which is 21% more than in 2016. In monetary terms, exports grew by 37% to $ 94.1 million. As noted in the article, exports also grew in 2018 and 2019. According to Palamar, in the first half of 2019, egg exports grew to 75.4 thousand tons, which is 69% higher than in 2018. At the same time, the share of "Avangard" in the export of eggs in 2018 amounted to 46.7%.
